Library Assistant (P/T), Wayne Public Library DUTIES Engaging with library patrons while staffing service desk. Checking in/out, renewing, or any other method for the proper circulation of library materials. Issuing library cards according to established procedures. Inspecting returned items for damage and assessing and receiving any fees or fines. Answering inquiries of a non-professional nature on the telephone or in person, or referring to appropriate staff as needed. Sorting materials according to the classification and returning them to designated home locations. Other duties include: emptying book drop; checking in daily newspapers; reshelving materials; and reading and straightening shelves.
